Who we are
A wholly Black-owned South African actuarial firm.
Founded in the aftermath of the 2008–2009 financial crisis, we specialise in credit risk management, traditional actuarial valuations and marketing analytics.
The story
Why Imani exists
Imani was founded on the principles of trust and commitment to the work we do for our clients. The 2008–2009 financial crisis exposed the limits of off-the-shelf risk models — we believed the South African market needed an actuarial firm that starts with each client’s context and builds from there.
We work across two domains: traditional actuarial services (valuations and regulatory capital) and wider analytics (credit risk and marketing analytics). In both, the premise is the same — all actuarial problems are unique, and therefore require unique solutions.
What guides us
Our values
Trust
“Imani” is the Swahili word for trust. We build long-running client relationships on accurate work, clear writing and no surprises.
Commitment
We own the outcomes of our work end-to-end — not just the technical deliverable.
Innovation
Our vision is to be a thought-leader in actuarial analytics by producing original, transparent, defensible solutions.
Transparency
Our models, assumptions and governance artefacts are built to be understood and maintained by your team after we leave.
